“TOP 20 • 2019 Chinese Contemporary Photography Exhibition” Is Opened at ZJAM on the Morning of October 29

On the morning of October 29, “TOP 20 · 2019 Chinese Contemporary Photography Exhibition” jointly sponsored by China Photographers Association (CPA) and the Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles (ZFLAC) and co-organized by Zhejiang Photographers Association (ZPA) and the Chinese Photography magazine was opened at ZJAM.

People who attended the opening ceremony included the following: Li Ge, chairman of CPA; Zhao Yanjun, vice chairman and secretary of the Secretariat of ZFLAC; Zhang Saifei, member of the Party Group and director of the Personnel Division of ZFLAC; Liu Guoping, former member of the Party Group, secretary of the Secretariat and vice chairman of ZFLAC; Jiang Shengxiang, deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education; Yang Yueluan, vice chairman of CPA and chairman of Hebei Photographers Association; Editor-in-chief Xu Yanjuan and Associate Editor Li Bo of Chinese Photography; Gao Shiqiang, director of Experimental Art Department of School of Intermedia Art and director of Institute of Space & Image, CAA; Shao Dalang, dean of College of Art of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics; Cai Jianping, vice president of China Electric Photographers Association; Wu Yong, vice chairman and secretary general of Shanxi Photographers Association; Honorary Chairman Zhou Runsan, Vice Chairmen Wang Xinke, Wang Xiaochuan and Jiao Jian, and Secretary General Mao Xiaofang of ZPA; famous contemporary artist Wang Qingsong, curator Karen Smith, and the previous selected exhibitors. The opening ceremony was moderated by Wu Zongqi, chairman of ZPA.

At the opening ceremony, Li Ge, chairman of CPA, delivered a speech and announced the opening of the exhibition. Gao Shiqiang, director of Experimental Art Department of School of Intermedia Art and director of Institute of Space & Image, CAA, and Chen Haishu, an exhibitor, delivered speeches, respectively.

Launched in 2011, “TOP 20 Chinese Contemporary Photography Exhibition” has been held every two years. The cutting-edge and creative images have made this event an important platform for us to notice trends and new attitudes in Chinese photography. The artists selected for exhibition this year are: Zhang Lanpo, Liu Shutong, Zhang Yinghan, Xiang Chengmei, Pan Xiaochun, Wang Hanlin, Chen Haishu, Hu Tu, Deng Yun, Shi Yangkun, Zhang Boyuan, Shi Zhen, Wang Yingying, Chen Chuanduan, Lu Yufan, Tang Lingxiao, Huang Zibai, Chi Lei, Hu Zhaowei, Chen Ya’nan and Lv Ge’er. These 21 photographers represent the youth and vitality of contemporary photography, and their works boldly explore the infinite possibilities of contemporary photography. Many of the selected works are marked by unique visual languages and art forms that could stir waves in the minds of visitors!

At the exhibition site

A total of 613 photographers from all over the country contributed works and materials to this exhibition, but what really touched the judges was the powerful responses of the photographers to life experience hidden in the selected works. These responses are based on personal perspectives, convey substantial messages out of sincerity, and ultimately arouse strategic and deep resonance on public topics; they fully steer the direction of photography as a medium to form effective synergies in the works.

On the day of the opening ceremony, activities including a photofolio review for the participating photographers of “TOP 20 · 2019 Chinese Contemporary Photography Exhibition” were held.

The exhibition will end on November 17, 2019.
