The exhibition is Planed in the frame of "Oriental Wisdom" exhibition series of Zhejiang Art Museum, which is the beginning of the whole series. Watermark printmaking is a unique art originated in China, which has always bore the Oriental memory in the 1400 years of history evolution. 

It has deeply reflected the spirit of Chinese aesthetics. The origin of Hangzhou has more than a thousand years’ connection with watermark, for this city’s natural landscape and cultural history have been matched with the spirit of watermark printmaking in a natural way. Hangzhou are still the important center of Chinese watermark creation and technology. 

To "activate the traditional inheritance and innovation" for the purpose of the implementing watermark printmaking as the trademark skill means, scenery will be extend as watermark be the art performance. Watermark will be activated in contemporary life. The exhibition tries to mix to daily and classic, temple and nature, poetry and precise arrangement, reality and fantasy, private and public, experience and programs, original and future, traditional and modern, dimensional integration is built up to rich the connotation of modern watermark in time and space; Images, text, physical objects, video, installation, performance, and other creative styles are combined with the natural scene to form public art project activities. Visual context are explored to activate watermark cultural vitality of contemporary aesthetics.

The exhibition takes "Water Culture" as the core concept, with "Watermark Engraving" as the core carrier, which is divided into five chapters. The exhibition plans to take "Oriental Wisdom" as the point, to form a "spiritual tour of the west to the east” in five years’ time. To present the spirit of "narrative form, cognitive development, traceability" through deconstruction and reconstruction of the established image and intermediary cognitive styles to explore, revival, and presents the depth of our national wisdom of enduring vitality.
