Mobile Art Museum: Bringing “Feng Zikai” to Liangzhu Experimental School in Anji Road, Hangzhou

When the New Year approached, as the first school intended to be a partner of ZJAM under the project of “Mobile Art Museum” for 2019, Liangzhu Experimental School in Anji Road, Hangzhou received the “Sentiments in the Human World — Exhibition of Series Activities to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Feng Zikai” from ZJAM and Xiaofeng Bookstore.

On the afternoon of December 29, Du Qun, secretary of the General Party Committee and deputy curator of ZJAM, awarded the plague that read “Partner Unit of ZJAM for the Project of Mobile Art Museum” to Luo Lingfang, headmaster of Liangzhu Experimental School, and presented fine collections of the museum as gifts. She hoped that the students would appreciate art works from the exhibition and gift books about a great master right in the school.

She also expected the students to appreciate the humor, wisdom, diligence and positive attitude behind the artist’s creations. Finally, she sincerely invited the students, teachers, and parents to visit and experience colorful art education activities at ZJAM. She hoped that all the students would fall in love with art while experiencing and feeling it and become outstanding talents who ride the wave of beauty in various fields when they grow up.

The works of Feng Zikai displayed on the exhibition come in three sections: “Feng Zikai and Hangzhou”, “Children in Feng Zikai’s Works”, and “Ancient Poetry in Feng Zikai’s Works”. Feng Zikai is a great master in the history of Chinese modern culture and art. In his youth, he studied music and painting from Li Shutong and Chinese language from Xia Mianzun. He was always committed to artistic creation and Chinese art education and made unique contributions to the development of Chinese art and human history. “Children” was a lasting subject in his works which constituted a large treasure full of childishness and playfulness. His realistic and lifelike cartoons are deeply loved by the Chinese people and have become a symbol for generations of Chinese people as they grow. As part of this exhibition, Prof. Chen Xing, Yang Chaoying, Yang Zigeng and Zhu Xiaofeng gave three wonderful lectures and workshops to the students and guided them into Feng Zikai’s art world.

“A Fair Land This Is — Zikai Feng at 120, A Retrospect” was an exhibition held in October 2018 at ZJAM, attracting nearly 130,000 visitors. The exhibits in this “Mobile Art Museum” introduced to Liangzhu Experimental School were replicas. The exhibition will end on January 18, 2019.
