In the afternoon of December 28, ZJAM and College of Art and Archaeology, Zhejiang University (“CAA-ZU”) held a ceremony of signing a strategic cooperation agreement at ZJAM. The two parties signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement of ZJAM and CAA-ZU” and officially announced the start of the cooperation and joint construction. Zheng Ni, Deputy Director (in charge of work) of Science and Technology and Education Division, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism (“ZPDCT”), Fang Zhiwei, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of CAA-ZU, Chi Changqing, Dean of the Fine Arts Department of CAA-ZU and President of Chinese National Academy of Arts (“CNAA”), Ying Jinfei, Curator of ZJAM, Du Qun, Secretary of the Party General Branch and Deputy Curator of ZJAM, Qian Cheng, Deputy Curator of ZJAM, Li Chenghua and Lin Ru, Vice Presidents of CNAA, heads of related functional departments of ZJAM and CAA-ZU teachers representatives, attended the signing ceremony. The two parties signing an art museum-university strategic cooperation agreement

Zheng Ni delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. On behalf of the ZPDCT, she first congratulated the two parties on signing the art museum-university strategic cooperation agreement, which marked the starting point for official cooperation. She hoped that the two sides can strengthen communication, deepen cooperation, and jointly promote the implementation of the project. She suggested that, on the one hand, they should establish a sound and normalized cooperation mechanism and continue to promote cooperation like relatives who keep connected actively, provide services enthusiastically, and cooperate with each other sincerely. On the other hand, she also suggested refining the cooperation project, determining cooperation priorities through study every year, exercising list-based management of the cooperation project, and implementing responsibilities and measures. She expected the cooperation project of the two parties to take root and bear fruit.

On behalf of ZJAM, Ying Jinfei expressed his gratitude to the ZPDCT for its strong promotion of and support for the strategic cooperation between the two parties. He said that in recent years ZJAM and Zhejiang University have cooperated in exhibition projects such as “The Minds and All Beings - Zhejiang Spirit in the Age of Discovery”, as well as public education activities. Relying on its specialty advantages in humanities, social sciences, and arts, Zhejiang University provides interdisciplinary academic support for the planning and academic research of important exhibition projects launched by ZJAM. The two sides enjoy complementary advantages and forces under a positive and friendly cooperation pattern. This art museum-university strategic cooperation agreement signed will undoubtedly guarantee the institutionalization and normalization of an interactive and cooperative relationship between the two parties. In the future, they will further broaden the areas of cooperation, enrich the content of cooperation, refine the cooperation project, continue to break through discipline restrictions, and move the cooperation into deeper and broader areas centering round cross-border integration.

Fang Zhiwei said that the cooperation between ZJAM and CAA-ZU extends and puts into effect the strategic cooperation agreement between the ZPDCT and Zhejiang University. The art museum-university cooperation agreement is an important step to advance the cooperation and will also start a new journey of comprehensive exchanges and cooperation between the two parties. Fang Zhiwei briefly introduced the compositions and main directions of the teaching and research units in CAA-ZU. Its goal is to be an important science and education bases for cultural heritage and design and art creation in China. The opening of this strategic partnership will promote the construction of “Cultural Zhejiang” and of a high-level university, comprehensively deepen exchanges and cooperation between the art museum and the university, and further develop and integrate Zhejiang University’s disciplinary advantages in the fields of humanities and art with ZJAM’s professional advantages in exhibitions, collections, academic research, and public education as a national key art museum. They two parties will surely enjoy mutual benefits and complementarity and produce a superimposed effect from win-win cooperation. In the next step, they will refine the cooperation content and establish a normalized cooperation mechanism to blossom more colorfully out and bear more fruits out of the partnership.
